Admissions Process

How does it work?

Admission to Berkeley Academy is extremely selective, based on a prospective student's conduct, academic performance, specialized talent, and potential to contribute to our school community. Here's exactly what to expect, from application to decision.

PART I

Application Requirements

  • Complete the Online Student Application
  • Submit up to 13 required documents (Admissions Checklist)
  • Receive notification within 5 business days
  • Schedule your Visitation Day via our Admissions Scheduling App

PART II

Visitation Day & Entrance Exam

  • Meet with an admissions officer and Evaluation Interviewer
  • Take admissions exams: reading, math, and essay writing (85%+ preferred)
  • Tour campus with an admissions officer
  • Test Day (during the year) or Meet the Faculty (Summer/Winter Break)

PART III

Official Decision

  • Full Admission, Conditional Admission, Wait-listed, or Declined
  • Decisions sent within 5 business days of your Visitation Day
  • Submit required payments to Accounting & Finance prior to admission

Step One: Application Requirements

All new applicants must fill out, complete, and submit the Online Student Application. Once submitted, applicants are asked to provide up to thirteen (13) required documents listed on our Admissions Checklist.

Applicants will receive a notification via email regarding successful document submission within five (5) business days, and whether they've received an offer for a Visitation Day. Families with any disqualifying information will not be invited for a visitation day.

Upon receiving the offer, parents/guardians and the student applicant will schedule a date and time to visit campus using the Admissions Scheduling App via Google Calendar.

Step Two: Visitation Day & Entrance Examination

Student applicants and families meet with an admissions officer and Evaluation Interviewer. At Berkeley Academy, our school community reflects our values — we evaluate not only the student's exams and behavior, but the family's potential to positively contribute to our community.

Families then tour Berkeley Academy's campus with an admissions officer, followed by either Test Day (during the academic year) or Meet the Faculty (available Summer, June–Aug, and Winter Break, Dec–Jan).

Step Three: Official Admissions Decision

Upon completion of your Visitation Day, our admissions team evaluates every element of the application and provides a final decision within five (5) business days:

Full Admission — The student has successfully passed all examinations, interviews, and meets Berkeley Academy's standards without reservation.

Conditional Admission — The student must meet conditional requirements (such as mandatory tutoring) based on examination and interview results.

Wait-listed — If the grade-level is full, students are placed on a waiting list in the order their evaluation was completed.

Declined — The student has not met the standards for this year, but may be invited to reapply after working on areas of improvement.
